MY BIBLE INTERPRETATION
Homosexuality
I think the Bible's stance against homosexuality is abhorrent. I have met homosexuals who are far better people than many of the heterosexuals I know. Why should God oppose them? They don't have a negative impact on society, in general. One might argue that they don't contribute new babies to the society, but many of them adopt children. Besides, is it a sin not to reproduce?

“ ‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.’ ” |

Well that seems sufficiently clear to me. It doesn't say anything about lesbianism, but I cannot deny that this verse declares homosexuality to be a sin.
... God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. |

The New Testament states its opposition to homosexuality far more frequently than the Old Testament. This passage seems to forbid homosexuality for women as well as men.
So what am I to conclude? Well, while it is true that the Bible declares the homosexual act to be a sin, it doesn't say that homosexual people are evil. God gives different people different temptations to fight. And the homosexual temptation is no better or worse than any other temptation. Even when a person gives in to this particular temptation, he or she is no worse than any other person who fails to fight a temptation. The Bible most certainly does NOT condone hatred of homosexual people or any kind of negative attitude toward them in general. We are all sinners, and they are no worse than anyone else.
