KEN SAMUEL IS AN ANTI-POLITICIAN
In elections, we are given a choice to vote for one politician or another. You can be sure that the winner will be a person who has selected politics as a career. In my opinion, the very concept of career politicians is obscene. For people who devote their lives to politics, their salary is dependent on them winning elections. When they lose elections, they must find some other less-desirable job. So, it’s not surprising that career politicians are desperate to win elections, and they’re willing to do whatever is necessary in order to win, regardless of the moral implications. This is not the way it was meant to be.
Also, career politicians tend to have a tremendous desire for money, power, and fame. This is often their motivation. And since losing a key election can end a political career, shattering the politician’s dreams of power and fame, they will do whatever it takes to win elections, regardless of the moral implications. This is not the way it was meant to be.
Many children dream of becoming President of the United States. They see it as a goal to strive for. They see it as a career to work toward. Although they don’t yet know what kind of immoral behavior is required to be a successful politician, they can commit themselves to this goal before they learn the truth. And when they do, they may be unable or unwilling to change career directions. This is not the way it was meant to be.
So how was it meant to be? Well, consider the first President of the United States, George Washington. He had no need for money, fame, or power. He had already earned all that from his great success as the victorious general in the Revolutionary War. So why did he enter the election? It was because the Americans wanted him to run for President. It was the desires of the people that motivated him. So he decided to forego retirement and volunteer to serve the people of his country for a few years.
This is the attitude that a candidate for President should have. He/she should be volunteering to serve the people if they so desire. If they don’t accept the offer, then that should not be a personal crisis for the candidate. Why should anyone want to serve people who explicitly say that they don’t want his/her service?
So, what about me? Well, I am not a politician. I have no desire for fame or power. I could use some money, but I don’t need it to enjoy a comfortable middle-class lifestyle.
Unlike politicians, I will be a President who strives to follow the moral code that was defined by God. And, as President, I will always do what I believe is best for the majority of Americans, even if it’s not what I want.
You might think that my lack of experience in government makes me unqualified to do the job. If so, you have a good point. So I will surround myself with experts who do know how to play the game of politics. These people may be politicians, but I will always decide what they should try to accomplish.
It’s time to see what a President who is not a politician can do.
