THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL
To say that he loved his wife would be an understatement. It's impossible to attempt to capture his emotions with a single word. Before he met her, he was self-centered, but by the time he married her, he was completely she-centered. He wanted nothing more or less than for her to be happy. His happiness was entirely dependent on hers. He lived to serve her.
One day, she entered the room while he was relaxing in his favorite chair watching the big game on television. She said, "Honey, you know what would make me happy?" Instantly, he jumped out of the chair and ran to listen to her, face to face. "What?" he responded, his attention fully focused on the person before him. "Well, could you please pick up your socks and put them in the laundry hamper?" He was off like a shot running into the bedroom, where he fell to the ground, gathered all of his dirty clothes and slam-dunked them into the hamper. He was absolutely thrilled. After all, if she had asked him to stand on his head and spit nickles, he would have tried his best. But to pick up his socks --- that was easy! It took practically no time and no energy. He returned to her and thanked her for telling him how to make her happy. "And I will try my best to put my dirty clothes in the hamper from now on." She gave him that brilliant smile, and he melted.
This is the kind of love that I want to have for God.
