WHAT SHE WANTS
The idea for this parable is credited to Elan Mazer.
One day, Jerry's wife was preparing dinner, and she accidentally cut her thumb with a knife. It was bleeding badly. She searched for bandaids but couldn't find any. So she called her husband and asked him to buy some bandaids and come home as quickly as possible. Jerry responded, "Of course, my love. I'll be home in ten minutes." So his wife ran water over her thumb and waited for her husband.
Jerry jumped into his car and drove directly to the pharmacy. But as he got out of his car, he noticed that there was a flower store next door. He thought, "My wife would surely prefer flowers to bandaids," and he went into the flower store. When he came out with a bouquet of roses, he had no time left to get the bandaids.
Do you think Jerry's wife was pleased when he came home with the flowers?
